Design process
Balance I would say the illusion design in the middle of the page would fit balance because it is balanced. The 3 points of the triangle are brought into the middle and they are all accentuated with every other line colored and also shaded to add dimension.
Scale I think the triangle inside the triangle and other smaller shapes in the triangle fit this one good. I started by diving the triangle in half. On one half of the triangle there is a large triangle almost filling in the whole outline but not quite. Then on the other half there is smaller triangles and squares. This shows the scale of the triangle to the squares and smaller shapes.
Contrast :I feel that the flame design i made on the left fits into this category. The pattern is close enough that it really makes those blacks and whites pop against each other and if it was repeated more than once on a page would give a major headache.
Pattern I really liked the firework design as a pattern. I think it was simple enough to capture the idea of a firework but it is also kind of abstract because maybe it could be a Pom Pom?
Movement and Rhythm
I feel that my other visual illusion fits really well into this one. The slightly overlapping lines around the triangle create movement and rhythm. It moves your eye from the outside to the inside then following the curved lines to the middle. I also added shading for more definition.
Emphasis!
I feel that the all black triangles attract and make emphasis in composition with the other triangles I created. Most of the designs are sharpie but not solid black. I did a lot of cross hatching and lines but nothing as bold as those ones.
Unity
What happens when you put it all together? How do all of these elements work with one another? The way elements are arranged so that the image is seen as a whole and overall, creates a visually compelling composition is unity.
I think all of these designs together create a lot of movement. These designs took some time to create and some are strategically placed and others aren’t. That is the thing about art, it is meaningful in some ways but not in other ways. I had fun creating this.
